Welcome
Our manifesto 2023
We have created Leith Witchcraft Market as a way to bring focus onto traditional witchcraft, folklore and seasonal celebrations in our daily lives; as humanity has done for centuries. We aim to build a witchy community of people, small businesses and those who, like us, want to live in alignment with the natural world.
WITCHCRAFT
Our emphasis is on rituals, customs and folklore of the land around us, old lore, traditions around nature and magickal practices from the past; incorporating astrology, individual, nature-based practice and natural cycles. Our aim with each event is to create a space which allows everyone involved to have a magickal experience.
FOLKLORE
The telling of old stories and providing a safe place for this to happen. Encouraging thoughts about how these stories keep us connected to nature and the role that ancient archetypes play in our modern lives.
WHEEL OF THE YEAR
Here at Leith Witchcraft Market, we honour and celebrate the seasonal changes and intend to link each market to the pagan calendar. All of our events are themed around the seasonal space we are in at the time, to support connection to the natural world and old rhythms of living and being. Traditionally, at these points of seasonal shift, fayres or gatherings would have happened in small rural communities up and down the country; a chance to gather in celebration of abundance or to support each other through harder times. These markets in our urban setting, serve as a reminder of these gatherings and a way to reconnect with the environment in a vital and visceral way.
THE MARKET
Our aim is to support and promote small, local traders who make sustainably and ethically sourced handmade items, thrifted treasures and responsibly foraged elements from the Earth. We support readers practising traditional forms of divination and magickal practitioners that utilise materials from the land around us. Cultural appropriation and the appropriation of closed practices will not fly here.
COMMUNITY
Forging connections with witchy, capable, kind and respectful people that share our values. We are an inclusive community. BIPOC, LGBTQ+ , all are welcome here. We have a responsibility to not kill the planet and to preserve and protect nature. We do our best to ensure that our events are as kind to the environment as possible and we ask this of all involved.

Accessibility and Inclusivity
Unfortunately, the venue we currently hold the market in does limit our options with increasing accessibility, particularly to the stalls upstairs - but scroll through or scroll down to see the changes we are able to make and will be making at Leith Witchcraft Market going forward to make sure everyone can have a great old witchy time with us!
* Quiet Hour - 10am - 11am- is now reserved as a chill zone for people who might find crowds and busy places difficult to navigate for a variety of reasons. The number of market-goers will be limited to 20 during this time. We know many of you like to come bright and early to snaffle your purchases, but if you can, we ask that you wait until 11 so that everyone can have access to the market.
* Mezzanine access- If you wish to purchase something from the traders upstairs and are unable to use the steps- please let one of the people on the door know. You can view each trader on our social media where we will mark who is Upstairs on the day. We will then bring the trader down to you to discuss/purchase any product or service you would like from them.
* Crowd Management - We will be limiting the number of people permitted into the venue at any one time.
This is to avoid over-crowding and make sure everyone can get to the sweet sweet purchases! This might mean that there is a queueing system in place at times, but we think this is better than being rammed in.
Watching this diverse and wonderful community grow with such tenacity has been MIND BLOWING so far and we want everyone to feel included and welcome.
We are currently limited by the venue but hope that these changes help. We also welcome any feedback , so if you think we’ve missed something or you want to share your experience of attending the market with us, please drop us an email at leithwitchcraftmarket@gmail.com
Thank you
